JOB DESCRIPTION
Must be a US citizen. Work site requirement is Rancho Cordova.
The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will serve as a primary individual responsible for the monitoring and supporting our clients Infrastructure; which includes Oracle Servers using Oracle/Sun branded hardware and EMC Storage arrays.
The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will own (be responsible for) any problems or conditions that exist in the clients Enterprise that are indicated by our monitoring systems or customer initiated requests. The administrator will take 1st level actions to determine the nature of the problem/issue, document it in the CA Service Desk System and then become the primary lead for the resolution process. This position will also act as a one-on-one liaison with the client in order to understand, review, and report on projects related to client needs.
The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will be responsible for understanding and operating the tools used to monitor, update and backup the Solaris based environment resources (i.e. Solaris versions 10-11, Oracle OpsCenter, Whats UP Gold, PRTG, and various utilities / scripts, etc.)
The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will work with other Administrations on the creation and support of multiple Solaris flar images used in the enterprise.
The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will work with other Team Leads and other System Administrators on the implementation of any planned changes or upgrades to the Solaris servers. The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will monitor and verify that appropriate patches are properly distributed. The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will provide feedback and help tune system operational and support procedures (SOSP) for the Enterprise Environment.
The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will be required to execute any daily operational, troubleshooting and support procedures required to maintain the environment. The Sr. Solaris Systems Administrator will execute daily and weekly tasks to report on Operational parameters.
A flexible working schedule is required (rotated on-call schedule - 24x7, weekend work, and various shift work to support client needs.) The Solaris Systems Administrators will be positioned in different shifts (AM 6-3, PM 10-7, Overlap 8-5.)
$18.55/Hour

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Qualifications: 3 5 years of technical experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, two additional years of relevant professional experience (5-7 years in total).
A Solaris Certification is desired. Other demonstrated related business experience will be considered.
Experience working with the creation and support of UNIX flar Images is a must.
Experience working in a Data Center NOC environment (27x7) is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of Solaris is required.
Candidate will need to work on-site at our clients Rancho Cordova, CA location. Telecommuting is not possible.
Candidate must be a seasoned professional who has worked in a larger scale network / data center environment (? 50 servers) for at least two years
A flexible working schedule is required (rotated on-call schedule - 24x7, some weekend work, various shift work.) The Solaris Systems Administrator will be positioned in different shifts (AM 6-3, PM 10-7, Overlap 8-5.)
Knowledge of CA Unicenter, Solaris, Linux/UNIX, DNS, Send-mail is desirable.
Practical hands on experience with Oracles SuperCluster, Exadata, T4 and T5 servers and model 7420 Storage, along with EMCs DMX4 storage array will be given stronger consideration.
